You change your clocks in October but, how often should you change your toothbrush?
The Ontario Dental Association claims it’s best to change your toothbrush or toothbrush heads every 3-4 months. We agree. The reasons? Well, usually after a 3-4 month period your toothbrush bristles have started to show signs of wear and become bent. When a brush becomes worn it doesn’t remove nearly as much plaque and bacteria as a fresh brush will. It may even impede on the reach of the brush to the back of your teeth. We also recommend it’s changed often because both toothbrush and toothbrush heads can harbor many types of nasty bacteria that can help attribute to periodontal disease (gum disease), gingivitis and even cavities!
Have your dental check-up coming up soon? Be sure to hit your dentist up for a new brush!
