New Park on Catchet Blvd

Brooklinites, in particular for those in the upper North East parts of Brooklin, I have just been advised that there is approval to move ahead with the development of a new park on Catchet Blvd just souh of Mildenhall Place and north of Carnwith Dr E in the Olde Winchester residential subdivision.

The design of the park will be a mixture of green space, play area, sandbox and a half basketball court. There is space to put a soccer pitch; however, due to a lack of parking and the fact that the Durham District School Board has not exercised its option to purchase the adjacent land for the development of a school  (and thusly additional parking spaces) the soccer pitch will remain green space until further notice.

See below for an idea of what the park will look like:

As it stands right now, the park design was approved this week and so the town till go out to bid with venders with the expectation that building of the park will start July/August of this year.

  1. Thanks to At Home in Brooklin for this info!

Hoping they will name the new park after something relating to Brooklin’s past…maybe Maplegrove Park after the farm that once operated on this same land?
