Year End is Approaching. Maximize your Dental Benefits.

The end of the calendar year is fast approaching and many of our patients inquire if it’s best to get treatment completed prior to the end of the year.  There are several reasons the answer to this question is yes.

Yearly Maximum.

Most insurance companies have a yearly maximum, which dictates the most money your dental insurance will pay per person, per year.  This amount is approximately $1,000 per family member and usually renews every year on the first of January (unless your plan runs on a fiscal year).  Any unused benefits will be lost.

Deductible.

The deductible is the amount of money that you must pay out of pocket to your dentist before your insurance company will pay for treatment.  The deductible fee varies, but starts again at the beginning of each insurance year.

Avoid Emergency Treatment.

Don’t delay in getting dental treatment or routine care.  By avoiding care, more extensive and expensive treatment can be needed down the road. What may be diagnosed as a simple cavity may turn in to a root canal.

It’s November and many of our patients are already discussing treatment they would like to complete before this years end. Please remember that some procedures require multiple appointments or lab time allowance. It is also recommended to patients that they call their insurance company to find out how much of their yearly insurance maximum is left as well as how many scaling units they have per year, just to be safe.

It’s a lot of information, but we are here to help!  Call or email our dental office today.
